WHO CAN VOLUNTEER

The Gulf Coast Humane Society conditionally accepts applications for court-ordered community service.

You must be 18 to do community service with GCHS.

We cannot accept any application for a person having a felony record (current or previous) and absolutely no Domestic Violence/violent crimes or Animal Cruelty charges (current or previous).

**Please note that volunteer hours DO NOT qualify for court ordered Community Service.**

Community Service participants will help with laundry, cleaning, landscape, etc. You will not have contact with the animals.

You can bring your completed application along with a copy of your photo ID to the shelter or email to: [email protected]

Please allow 5-7 business days for a background check to be completed. Once you are approved, you will be contacted.

All sections must be complete for application to be considered. Applications must be approved by the Volunteer Coordinator before you may begin performing community service. We cannot accept community service volunteers under the age of 18. We cannot accept any application for a person having a felony record (current or previous) and absolutely no Domestic Violence or Animal Cruelty charges (current or previous).

IMPORTANT:

Community Service Volunteers (CSV) will be assigned onsite jobs at the Humane Society according to what needs to be done that day. Shifts must last a minimum of two hours and will be assigned. We cannot guarantee more than 4 hours per shift depending on available workload. You will NOT have contact with the animals. I understand the risks of spending time in the shelter and agree to assume responsibility for any and all injury, harm, or other incident that may occur during my community service here. I also understand that if I exhibit behaviors considered by GCHS staff to be dangerous or inappropriate, I will be removed from the Community Service program and my Probation Officer may be contacted.needs to be done that day.
